The app market will grow to $27 billion in 2013

According to ABI Research’s forecast, the mobile app market will grow to an impressive $27 billion this year.

iOS continues to lead the way, this operating system accounts for two-thirds of revenue from applications for smartphones and tablets,” says Josh Flood, a leading analyst at the company.

And this is despite the fact that Google has recently overtaken Apple in the number of total downloads. But again, according to Josh, the difference in revenue between the giant platforms will disappear in the next 18 months.

Also, revenues from smartphone apps are still significantly ahead of those from tablets, but by 2017 the situation will be reversed. The prerequisites for this already exist: tablet apps cost more.

The mentioned $27 billion includes revenue from paid applications, subscriptions, IAP and in-app advertising.
