In Russia, the smartphone market has grown by 69 over the year%
In 2012, smartphone sales in Russia increased significantly. The main drivers of growth were Android and Windows Phone devices.
Euroset told about this in its official analytical report. According to her estimates, 12.8 million smartphones worth 134 billion were sold last year. In quantitative terms, the annual growth was 69%, in monetary terms – 60%. For comparison, the total market of cell phones (conventional handsets and smartphones) reached 199.1 billion in 2012 with 42 million devices sold.
The most impressive dynamics in the Russian market was demonstrated by smartphones running on Windows Phone. The number of gadgets sold in 2012 increased by 313%, revenue by 274% (the loyalty of Russians to the Nokia brand undoubtedly played a role here). Android-based devices also showed very good results. The growth in the number of smartphones sold in 12 months amounted to 173%, revenue increased by 145%.
As for Apple, the share of this company grew in Russia at about the same pace as the smartphone market. The number of devices sold increased by 62%, revenue by 46%. An important point: this happened when the average annual price decreased by 10%.
As for the structure of sales by platform, a large share went to Android – 59%. Symbian, which occupied 41% of the market a year ago, now costs 18%. The share of Bada also decreased slightly – from 15% the year before last to 13% in 2012. iOS and Windows Phone account for 5% of the market in quantitative terms.
If we talk about the structure of the smartphone market by manufacturer, Samsung plays the leading violin in Russia – it has 42% of the market, almost a quarter – 21% – for Nokia, Sony Ericsson/ Sony is also among the top three. LG and Fly models showed good dynamics. For the first 6% of the market, for the second 4%.
