Sensor Tower data highlights the significant disparity between GTA 6 and all other competitors

Data from Sensor Tower reveals that preorders for "GTA 6" surpass those of major AAA gaming titles from the past six years.

The analytical company examined preorder numbers for substantial recent releases such as "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" (2022), "Diablo 4" (2023), "Hogwarts Legacy" (2023), and "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" (2023) and compared them to those of "GTA 6."

"Modern Warfare 2," despite its tremendous success and having preorders more than double those of "Diablo 4" 45 days before launch, boasted an impressive $800 million opening weekend. A subsequent launch, "Black Ops 6," recorded the most significant debut in the series' history in 2024, a milestone supported by its simultaneous release on Game Pass, as noted by the gaming industry.

At present, "GTA 6" leads "Modern Warfare 2" by 148% in preorder figures at a similar timeframe before release.

This analysis by Sensor Tower focuses solely on digital preorders within the United States and does not include physical editions.

As of October 13, it is estimated that 6.08 million units of "GTA 6" have been preordered, generating approximately $594 million in revenue. The analysis shows 74% of these preorders on PlayStation and 26% on Xbox, with a significant proportion opting for the $100 ultimate edition.
