The gambling market in Greece grew by 8% — almost the entire increase was driven by the online segment

In the first half of 2026, the gross gaming revenue (GGR) of Greece's legal gambling market reached €1.56 billion. This is an 8% increase compared to the previous year, as reported by the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC).

The primary contributor to this growth was iGaming. According to the regulator's estimates, the GGR of the online segment grew by 18.7% compared to the previous year, reaching €647.2 million. In comparison, the land-based segment’s GGR rose by 1.6% to €910.6 million.

As a result, the share of iGaming in the Greek market increased from 37.8% to 41.5%, while the share of the land-based segment declined from 62.2% to 58.5%.

Analysts at Deloitte Business Solutions predict further market growth. According to their calculations, by 2040, the market volume could exceed €5.25 billion, with iGaming generating about half of all revenues.
