Alinea Analytics: Steam's revenue for 2026 reached $15 billion
This is 15% more than the same period (January — August) the previous year.
As reported by Alinea, the game store's revenue for the entire year is highly likely to significantly exceed the $20 billion mark. This has never happened before. In 2025, Steam generated $19.9 billion.
Furthermore, as we have mentioned on several occasions, the number of releases has also significantly increased. During the reporting period alone, 19,000 titles were released — roughly as many as were published throughout the entire previous year and noticeably more than in 2024.
Regarding this year's top-grossing premium games, the top six accounted for 6.6% of total gaming revenue, collectively generating almost $1 billion. The selection is quite diverse:
The total revenue of the top 100 most successful new releases of 2026 amounted to about $2.4 billion, accounting for 15.9% of Steam's total earnings. Despite the fact that 63% of the top's new releases are based on new IPs, 52.5% of the revenue came from projects based on already well-known franchises.
