The new expansion for The Witcher 3 is expected to generate nearly $200 million in its debut year — analysis
Polish analysts from DM BOŚ calculated the potential revenue from the Songs of the Past expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The estimated amount is substantial.
Songs of the Past
According to their estimates, in the first 12 months alone, Songs of the Past could bring CD PROJEKT RED over 700 million PLN. In dollars, this is approximately 187.9 million. For comparison, last year the entire company generated slightly more — 866.9 million PLN (234.8 million dollars).
DM BOŚ also believes that the annual sales of the expansion will amount to 11.4 million copies.
If the analysts’ forecast comes true, Songs of the Past will sell just slightly slower than The Witcher 3 itself did at the time. To recap, the third Witcher was released in May 2015 and by the end of December that year, its sales “almost” reached 10 million copies. By May 2026, the game had been purchased 65 million times.
CD PROJEKT RED has not yet announced the exact release date of Songs of the Past. Officially, it is known that the expansion will be released sometime in 2027. However, DM BOŚ expects its debut to occur by the end of the first quarter, no later than March 31.
