In the first half of 2026, the total circulation of console and PC games exceeded 1.2 billion copies, according to analytics
Separately, in their semi-annual report, Sensor Tower analysts focused on the segment of PC, PlayStation, and Xbox games.

The analysts indicated that their calculated circulation of 1.2 billion copies includes both full sales and free-to-play downloads. Game Pass subscription metrics were also considered. They did not specify how many copies were actually sold. However, Sensor Tower noted that compared to last year, the total circulation increased by 1%.
It is reported that the majority of semi-annual game sales and downloads were on PlayStation consoles—492 million copies. Steam took second place with 392 million copies. Xbox consoles rounded out the top three with 372 million copies.

- Total revenue from paid games on Steam for the half-year amounted to $5.36 billion, which is 5% less year-over-year.
- The most popular games of the half-year on PlayStation were EA Sports FC 26 (12 million copies), Resident Evil Requiem (5.3 million copies), and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (4.3 million copies).
- Meanwhile, Xbox was led by Subnautica 2 (3.4 million copies), NBA 2K26 (3 million copies), and EA Sports FC 26 (3 million copies).
- Electronic Arts was the most successful publisher in terms of total circulation of paid and free games. Its projects from January to June 2026 sold a total of 63.3 million copies.
- Other publishers in the top five were Ubisoft (43.8 million copies), Capcom (39.2 million copies), Sony (37.5 million copies), and Microsoft (23.6 million copies).
