During its 10th anniversary week, Pokémon Go amassed more than $48.5 million in in-app purchase revenue, as reported by AppMagic. This surge took place during the Road to Legends event, which ran from July 6 to July 12.

The event included exciting features such as rotating raids with legendary Pokémon, Ultra Beasts, and Mega-Evolved Pokémon. It also offered unique move unlocks and themed backgrounds in anticipation of the Pokémon Go Fest: Global.

Thanks to these offerings, the game's in-app sales increased 5.9 times compared to the previous week, achieving a new all-time weekly high.

In this period, Pokémon Go positioned itself as the fourth highest-grossing app globally. Over the past month, it generated $98.1 million in revenue and received over four million downloads.

The United States was responsible for 37% of the revenue, with Japan accounting for 27%. Regarding downloads, India took the lead with 22%, followed by the US at 14%.

In the global rankings for July, Pokémon Go was the seventh highest-grossing app, surpassing Roblox.

Matthew Reynolds, editor of the Pokémon Go-focused publication One More Catch, shared his insights with GamesIndustry.biz about the event's success. He noted, "The 'Road of Legends' event brought back nearly every legendary Pokémon to raids. Additionally, the £20/$20 battle pass offered a rare item, the Gold Bottle Cap, enabling players to fully enhance a Pokémon's stats."

Reynolds further mentioned, "The week concluded with the anticipated global Pokémon Go Fest and the introduction of Mega Mewtwo."

He also highlighted that despite increased monetization since Scopely's acquisition, the game remains player-friendly, with significant features like trading and player battles augmenting its appeal since its 2016 launch.

Pokémon Go has reached over 700 million downloads and earned over $6.4 billion, as estimated by AppMagic.

After Scopely's acquisition, GamesIndustry.biz spoke with Scopely's president of games, Ed Wu, and head of M&A operations, Heather Tacskovics, regarding the game's trajectory. Wu stated, "Creating a sequel isn't the right direction. The extensive community enjoys a game that aligns with their lifestyles anywhere they go. A sequel dividing the community isn’t practical."

Wu added that if new developments occur, they would focus on maintaining the spirit of social exploration.
