Pre-orders for GTA VI brought Take-Two a record $260 million in one week — Newzoo
Analysts at Newzoo decided to examine how actively gamers are pre-ordering GTA VI. According to their estimates, the game has already achieved phenomenal box office success.
GTA VI
Pre-orders for GTA VI opened on June 25. As calculated by Newzoo, by early July, the game had already generated over $180 million in revenue solely from the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy. Considering the geographical popularity of GTA V, analysts estimated that worldwide revenues from pre-orders for this period exceeded $260 million.
According to the analysts, this is the strongest start they've ever recorded. No other game has ever reached such figures before, and the number of GTA VI pre-orders — along with the revenue — continues to grow.
Newzoo projects that by the end of the release week, GTA VI will sell at least 37 million copies, generating $3.25 billion. In their most optimistic scenario, analysts even expect to see GTA VI sales reach 60 million copies and revenues of $5.2 billion.
Neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company Take-Two Interactive have shared any figures regarding GTA VI yet. Some data may appear in the next financial report from Take-Two Interactive, which will be released on August 7.
The release of GTA VI is set for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
