The number of new releases on Godot is rapidly increasing on Steam — analytics
Clay John, a member of the board of directors of the Godot Foundation, shared some intriguing statistics about the engine on the Godot blog. Among other things, he calculated how many games created with Godot have been released on Steam in recent years.

John mentioned upfront that he gathered part of the information from public sources, as he does not have all the official data at hand. In the case of Steam, he turned to the SteamDB service, which shows the current situation on the platform.
As John noted, each year sees more Godot games appearing in Valve's store. In 2019, only 56 projects using this engine were released on Steam, but in 2020, there were 106. By 2025, this number of new releases reached 1229. In other words, over the past six years, Godot's popularity among Steam developers has increased 22 times.
Nevertheless, John pointed out that a significant number of developers still prefer releasing their Godot games on the indie store itch.io due to the low entry barrier. According to the specialist's estimates, by February 2026, 36,500 Godot games had been released on itch.io. Incidentally, this is also more than before—relative to February 2024, their number increased 2.4 times.
John did not comment on the situation on other platforms, but it is quite likely that the number of such projects is gradually increasing there as well. It is worth recalling that a couple of years ago, following the controversy over Unity's monetization, many developers switched engines, opting for Godot. Among them were, for example, the creators of Slay the Spire 2 and Road to Vostok.
