In March, Marathon surpassed Crimson Desert in revenue in the U.S., according to analytics
Analyst Mat Piscatella from Circana published a monthly report on the state of the US gaming market. He noted that in March, market revenue increased, and six new releases made it into the top 20 best-selling games of the month.
Marathon
- In total, US residents spent $5.3 billion on video games, hardware, and accessories in March. This is a 12% increase over the previous year.
- Video game sales in the US for the month amounted to $4.55 billion, an 8% increase;
- The leader of the month's chart by dollar revenue was MLB: The Show 26, which knocked Resident Evil Requiem down to the second position. Five more new releases appeared lower on the chart: WWE 2K26 (third place), Marathon (fourth place), Pokémon Pokopia (fifth place), Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (seventh place), and Crimson Desert (15th place).
- Additionally, thanks to its release on PC, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach re-entered the chart at 17th place (up 148 spots). 85% of the game's revenue in March was from the PC version.
- Hardware sales grew by 69% to $500 million. The best-selling hardware for March was the Nintendo Switch 2.
- Sales of gaming accessories reached $252 million, a 5% increase.
