Yodo1, a mobile games publisher based in China, has introduced a new data platform dedicated to intellectual property (IP) and licensing, known as IPVerse.

This no-cost platform is designed to assist developers and publishers in determining which IPs are best suited for in-game collaborations. IPVerse includes data from 80,000 in-game events, 20,000 brands, and 15,000 different titles spanning mobile, console, and PC platforms. It also provides specific insights into the Chinese market.

According to Yodo1, collaboration events within games have surged by 280% since 2020, though they have not consistently achieved success. The company highlights that selecting an inappropriate IP can adversely affect game player growth and retention over time, as indicated in the release about IPVerse.

Eliyar Eziz, product lead at Yodo1 Games, stated, "IPVerse aims to simplify the complex process of pinpointing valuable in-game collaborations."

Eziz further elaborated, "As the gaming landscape shifts, studios are focusing more on retaining players, making strategic IP alliances essential for expansion. Traditionally, these decisions have been based on intuition and incomplete data, which can result in significant errors. IPVerse addresses this by offering a thorough analysis of global movement and specific regional data, especially in China, that allows developers to make well-informed choices for partnerships."

Established in 2011, Yodo1 secured $18 million in funding within its first two years, progressing from seed to Series B stages.

In 2019, the company became a topic of discussion after its CEO and co-founder, Henry Fong, revealed that a player had spent $150,000 on Transformers: Earth War. This sparked debate concerning how developers and publishers perceive their audiences, with attention on Fong's remarks about an AI tool Yodo1 had created to identify such high-spending "whales."
