The primary contributors to revenue during the festive season were live service games. Arc Raiders held the No.3 position, while both Call of Duty and Battlefield faced challenges in differentiating themselves in the market. Tianyi Gu from Newzoo pointed out Call of Duty's ongoing difficulties, which led to it falling to fifth place on their revenue chart last month. Battlefield similarly dropped to the eighth position.

Newzoo's statistics cover regions including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. Conversely, Circana reported that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 achieved the top spot in both physical and digital sales within the US over the holiday period.

In 2025, Battlefield 6 held its position as the top-ranking US game by revenue, debuting as the best-seller that year with over seven million units sold in three days, according to Circana. However, data collected by Newzoo from countries outside the US indicated that the game struggled to keep its launch momentum.

Additionally, Newzoo's December 2025 revenue charts saw Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 entering the Top 20.

The rise of Pokémon up ten spots to 11th place was attributed to the release of its Mega Dimensions DLC, which significantly drove revenue. Similarly, Clair Obscur climbed to 16th place, boosted by its acclaim at The Game Awards and a well-received update, as noted by Gu.

Furthermore, the holiday period saw Amazon’s Fallout series enhancing the game's popularity. With its second season launched on December 16, the series contributed to a 42% increase in monthly active users, though this was less than the significant rise during the first season.

According to Gu, Fallout's revenue increased by 59% from the previous month, affected mainly by a new DLC for Fallout 76. As reported earlier, GamesIndustry.biz shared that the franchise saw a notable lift in sales shortly after the second season's premiere.

Overall, Newzoo's data suggested that the total revenue for 2025 remained stable in comparison to the previous year. Revenue from new titles, however, increased by 21.5%, fueled by key releases like Battlefield 6, Arc Raiders, and Assassin's Creed Shadows.

In the US, Circana's analysis indicated a 1% growth in video game spending from 2024, reaching $60.7 billion.
