The budget for The Witcher IV could exceed $770 million, according to analysis
Analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski from Noble Securities has released a comprehensive report focusing on CD PROJEKT's expenditures on game development. Among other things, he estimated how much the Polish company might spend on the fourth installment of "The Witcher".
The Witcher IV
According to the analyst's estimates, the development of The Witcher IV alone will cost CD PROJEKT 1.4 billion zlotys (389.3 million dollars). An equal amount will be spent on marketing the game. As a result, its total budget will reach 2.8 billion zlotys or 778.7 million dollars at the current exchange rate.
Chrzanowski suggests that the overall budget for the entire next The Witcher trilogy will be 3.2 billion zlotys (890 million dollars). In his view, CD PROJEKT's expenses for the second and third games will be significantly lower than for The Witcher IV, as the company will utilize already tested technologies in their development. Additionally, due to the close release windows (all three games are planned to be released over six years), CD PROJEKT will save on marketing costs.
When The Witcher IV will be released is still unknown. Previously, CD PROJEKT reported that the game will definitely not see the light of day in 2026, but they have not shared more specific timelines. Chrzanowski believes that the fourth Witcher could debut towards the end of 2027.
