In 2025, the revenue of the global video game market will exceed $263 billion, according to analytics
The gaming market is recovering from the post-pandemic slump, according to analysts from the Boston Consulting Group. Below are some figures from their latest report.
- Analysts predict that by the end of 2025, the market revenue will reach $263.7 billion, which is a 4% increase compared to the end of 2024.
- At least for the next five years, growth will continue, and by 2030, market revenue is expected to hit $353 billion.
- In 2025, 61% of the market revenue will come from mobile games—$160.6 billion. Of this amount, $128.7 billion will be generated by in-game purchases, while $31.9 billion will come from advertising.
- The console and PC games segment will earn $101.6 billion in 2025. This figure includes $69.6 billion from game sales, $18.3 billion from console sales, and $13.7 billion from gaming subscriptions.
- Analysts have separately highlighted the cloud gaming segment. They estimate its revenue for 2025 at $1.5 billion and suggest that by 2030 it will be much higher—$18.3 billion.
- Among the key trends for the coming years, analysts identified: the growth of games with AI content, active development of cloud gaming and UGC platforms, as well as increasing use of webshops and alternative payment systems on mobile.
