Analytics: In the incomplete year of 2025, games on Steam have earned over $16 billion — a record

The year 2025 has already become the best year in Steam's history in terms of game revenue, claims the analytical company Alinea Analytics.

Peak

According to analysts, from January to mid-November 2025, all available games on Steam collectively generated $16.2 billion in revenue. This figure includes both sales from paid games and earnings from free-to-play games.

Previously, 2024 was considered the record year for Steam. However, Alinea Analytics notes that the total game revenue in the store for all 12 months of that year was 5.7% lower than at present. By the end of December 2025, the gap is expected to widen even further.

Interestingly, game revenue on Steam has been growing almost continuously over the last decade. If the analysts' data is to be believed, the only downturn occurred in 2022, when games generated about $12 billion.

Alinea Analytics also calculated that Valve itself earned over $4 billion in 2025 from game commissions on Steam and its own titles. Comparisons with other years are not provided.
