Demand for portable consoles in Russia has increased 1.5 times over the year — analytics

Russians have started purchasing portable consoles much more frequently, claims the company "M.Video." They shared their observations in a report dedicated to gaming console sales in the country for the first nine months of 2025.

According to "M.Video," the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 contributed significantly to the growth in portable console sales. Additionally, the Steam Deck continues to enjoy great popularity—currently ranking fourth in unit sales and second in sales by rubles in Russia.

The company reports that from January to September 2025, 1.5 times more portable consoles were sold in Russia compared to the same period the previous year. The exact number was not disclosed.

Speaking of consoles in general, Russians bought 1.1 million devices over the nine months. This is also more than the previous year, but only by 7.8%. However, in terms of monetary value, sales declined—from 22.3 billion rubles in 2024 to 20 billion rubles in 2025.

The best-selling consoles remained PlayStation. According to "M.Video," they accounted for 65% of sales in rubles and 22% in units. Next in the ranking for monetary sales were the Steam Deck (11%), Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 (9%), and Xbox (7%). In unit sales, the second place was shared by Nintendo consoles and SUP brand consoles (a Game Boy clone)—each holding a 6% share—and the list was rounded out by the Steam Deck with a 3% share.
