Statistics by category on the Android Market

Yesterday we published statistics on the cost of applications in the App Store, today we offer information about the categories of the Android Market.

Currently, 279410 applications are available for download on the Android Market, of which 34% are low-quality applications.

The most popular category is Entertainment, while more than 99% of the applications in it belong to the Games subcategory.

As well as in the Apple App Store, the most popular on the Android Market are freemium-applications. There are only three categories in which paid applications dominate: Books&Reference, Medical, and Personalization.
