Niko Partners: Over the next five years, the revenue of the Southeast Asian gaming market will grow by more than a billion dollars

Recently, the analytical company Niko Partners published a report on the Southeast Asian gaming market*. We have highlighted the main findings.

  • In 2024, residents of Southeast Asian countries spent $5.37 billion on games — 5.2% more than in 2023.
  • The market's revenue is expected to grow to $5.47 billion by the end of 2025, and by 2029 it will reach $6.47 billion.
  • The number of gamers in the region is also increasing. Last year, 285.82 million people played games, and by the end of 2025, there will be 290 million. By 2029, Niko Partners expects to see 324.4 million gamers in Southeast Asian countries.
  • Meanwhile, local gamers have been spending less time gaming. Last year, they played an average of 21.8 hours per week, but now only 15 hours per week.
  • Additionally, over the past year, the number of gamers in different countries in the region who do not spend money in games has increased by 10-20‰. The total number of such gamers is not specified.
  • 9% of gamers who currently make in-game purchases do so through third-party platforms.
  • Overall, 87% of gamers in the region prefer games with localization in local languages. The highest demand for localization is in Vietnam (93.4%) and Thailand (91.5%).
