Black Myth: Wukong was purchased 100,000 times on Xbox in two weeks — analysis

On August 20, 2025, the Chinese action game Black Myth: Wukong finally arrived on Xbox consoles — exactly one year after its release on PC and PlayStation. Rickard Linder, head of the analytics company Alinea Analytics, mentioned on LinkedIn that the launch went by without much fanfare.

Black Myth: Wukong

According to Linder, by September 4, the Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong had sold about 100,000 copies. The relatively small number is partly explained by the fact that Microsoft consoles are not very popular among Chinese players, who form the main audience for the title.

For comparison: in 2024, on PC and PlayStation over the first two weeks, Black Myth: Wukong sold 18 million copies.

In total, Linder calculated, over 27 million copies of Black Myth: Wukong have been sold worldwide to date.

Currently, developers from Game Science are working on the next game in the Black Myth series, called Black Myth: Zhong Kui. It does not have a release date yet.
