This year, revenue from the Chinese gaming market will surpass the $50 billion threshold, according to analysts
The analytical company Niko Partners forecasts that the year 2025 will be extremely successful for the Chinese gaming market. According to their calculations, residents of China will spend $50.7 billion on games over the year — $1.5 billion more than in 2024.

By 2029, Niko Partners writes, the market revenue is expected to reach $54.8 billion.
The number of gamers in the country will also increase. The analysts did not specify how many there would be by the end of 2025, but indicated that in 2029, 753.7 million inhabitants of China will be playing games. For comparison, in 2024, there were 722 million gamers in China.
The analysts also discussed the ongoing demand in China for mini-games on WeChat, Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok), and other similar platforms. They found that mini-games are already generating almost 10% of the local gaming market's revenue, and 84.4% of Chinese gamers have launched them at least once.
Incidentally, Douyin, along with other short video services, is the most popular source of information about new games in the country. 41% of Chinese gamers get information from them. Following are game stores (38.7%), social networks (33.9%), messengers (33.4%), and streamers (31.6%).
