41% of surveyed Russians play only free-to-play games — study
The service "Yookassa" conducted a survey about video games among Russian residents. It found that a significant portion of Russians prefers free-to-play games, and the most popular platform in the country is smartphones.

- 41% of respondents do not play paid games, preferring free-to-play projects.
- 29% of paying gamers spend less than a thousand rubles per month on games. 17% spend 1-5 thousand rubles monthly, 7% spend 5-10 thousand rubles, and 6% spend more than 10 thousand rubles.
- 45% of those surveyed purchase games in official stores. Nearly as many — 43% — use torrents, while another 12% prefer third-party websites with games.
- 42% of the respondents play every day. Another 21% of Russians play several times a week.
- Only offline games are chosen by 17% of the respondents. Conversely, 41% of Russians play only online games.
- The top four game genres in Russia are shooters (13%), action games (12%), strategy games (10%), and simulators (10%). The least popular are fighting games — 2%.
