Study: 90% of surveyed developers use AI technologies in game creation
The analytical company The Harris Poll reached this conclusion after conducting a study commissioned by Google. A total of 615 developers from the USA, South Korea, Norway, Finland, and Sweden, primarily working in large studios, participated in the survey.
The developers told The Harris Poll that AI allows them to save time and eliminate some repetitive tasks. For example, respondents noted that neural networks help expedite game testing (47%), localization (45%), and code work (44%).
Additionally, 94% of developers believe that in the future, AI will make game production cheaper. Specifically, 40% indicated that the excitement around AI has already led to the emergence of new business models in the gaming industry.
Nonetheless, developers acknowledged that there are still many issues with AI. Among the main challenges are the difficulty in assessing the success of AI implementation (25%), the high cost of integrating AI into studio processes (25%), the lack of data for AI training (23%), and legal risks (23%).
