Study: In 2025, Americans will spend an average of $325 on games, while Europeans will spend 2.6 times less
Analysts from Newzoo and Tebex have released a report on gaming expenditures of residents in North America and Europe. Below are some key findings from the report.

- Companies predict that by the end of 2025, North American gamers' spending on games will reach $52.7 billion. This is 28% of the global spending.
- Europeans are expected to spend another $33.1 billion, or 18%.
- In North America, annual gaming expenditures per paying gamer are the highest in the world. It is estimated that in 2025, each American purchasing games or making in-game purchases will spend an average of $324.9.
- Europeans are much more frugal. According to forecasts, they will spend an average of $125.4 on games per year across Europe. In Western Europe, this amount will rise to $170 per person. In Eastern Europe, it will be only $51.6 per person.
- The number of paying gamers is slowly but steadily increasing. For example, in 2024, there were 256.6 million in Europe, and 159.5 million in North America. Companies expect these numbers to grow to 277.9 million and 166.7 million, respectively, by 2027.
- In North America, the most money is spent on shooters, while in Europe, it's on sports games.
- American gamers are most likely to make purchases when they can receive additional or exclusive content. Europeans are more inclined to buy when the game is on sale or offered at an attractive price.
