A recent analysis suggests that Nintendo might emerge as the "primary partner for third-party game publishers" within the next five years

In the coming years, Nintendo has the potential to become the main collaborator for third-party game publishers.
According to DFC Intelligence, as reported by Eurogamer, Nintendo's sales could surpass their prediction of selling 15 million units by a million or more, with the possibility of reaching 20 million units this year.
DFC noted, "In line with their usual cautious stance on product predictions, Nintendo anticipates selling 15 million Switch 2 units by the end of March 2026."
When the original Switch debuted in March 2017, Nintendo initially aimed to sell 10 million units for that fiscal year but ended up at 15 million. This history suggests that Nintendo's 15 million unit forecast implies confidence in overcoming supply issues and tariff hurdles."
By 2029, projections indicate that Switch 2 could sell over 100 million units, positioning it significantly ahead in the console market.
The report suggests Nintendo might soon emerge as the primary associate for third-party publishers.
Recently, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa clarified that US tariffs did not influence the price of Switch 2. During an earnings call Q&A, Furukawa explained that pricing at ¥49,980/$499.99/£395.99 was dictated by factors like production costs, consumer perceptions, market trends, and currency fluctuations.
