Study: 71% of Americans play video games
The analytics company Circana tried to determine what the video game audience in the United States looks like today. For this, it surveyed 5,100 residents of the country.

- 71% of those surveyed are interested in video games. Based on this, Circana concluded that there are 236.4 million gamers in the U.S.
- 37% of American gamers are over 45 years old. Another 28% are aged 25-44, 19% are 12-24 years old, and 16% are 2-12 years old.
- 65% of American gamers play on mobile devices at least occasionally, 36% on PCs, and 35% on consoles. A third of Americans prefer to play on only one type of device.
- On average, Americans spend 14.5 hours a week playing video games.
- In the first half of 2024, Americans spent an average of $56.2 on in-game purchases. However, only 54% of those surveyed made such purchases.
