Sony has decided to remove Concord from the market effective immediately

Sony has decided to withdraw the hero shooter game, Concord, from the market and deactivate its servers, effective September 6. The game from Firewalk Studios, which debuted on August 23, will be taken offline for further evaluation by the team to decide on future steps.

Ryan Ellis, Firewalk Studios' game director, communicated this through a post on the PlayStation Blog. He expressed gratitude toward the Concord community for their engagement, stating that while several elements found favor with players, certain critical aspects fell short of expectations. This misalignment prompted the decision to cease the game’s online operation starting September 6, 2024, as the team reviews potential improvements and expansion strategies.

Sales of Concord have been halted with immediate effect, and full refunds will be issued to all customers who purchased the game for PlayStation 5 or PC. Once refunds are processed, access to the game will be revoked.

For further insights, the latest episode of The GamesIndustry.biz Microcast delves into recent major developments, including a segment on Concord’s challenges as it ventured into PlayStation's live service offerings. The discussion also covers reasons for Concord’s lower player engagement compared to other multiplayer games like Sony’s Helldivers 2.
