PwC: By 2028, the global video game market will exceed $330 billion
Video games are one of the fastest growing sectors in the entertainment industry, according to a report by the auditing company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). It predicts that by 2028, the size of the gaming market will increase by more than 47% compared to 2023.

- According to PwC estimates, in 2023, the global video game market was valued at $227.6 billion. This is a 4.6% increase from 2022.
- It is expected to reach $334.16 billion by 2028.
- 76.4% of the total will be attributed to social/casual gaming, mainly mobile games. While currently, in-game purchases and subscriptions generate the most revenue in this segment, by 2028, in-game advertising will become the main source of money. PwC forecasts that in four years, revenue from ads in games will rise to $147.9 billion (+104%), while revenue from IAP will be $106.6 billion (+29%).
- The second-largest segment is traditional gaming (21.4%). Esports will account for another 0.9% of the revenue.
