Tencent has announced the discontinuation of its free-to-play shooter game, Synced, marking exactly one year since its release. While no specific reasons were provided for this decision, the company informed users that they could still play the game and utilize any in-game items they currently possess until the game is permanently withdrawn at 7pm on September 8 (GMT -8).
Consequently, new player registrations and in-app purchases have been suspended.
NExT Studios, the game's developer, shared this announcement on Steam: "Thank you for playing Synced and being part of its community. We regret to announce that the game will be retired this September. Until the Termination Date, you will still be able to enjoy the game and use any existing in-game items."
The game has received a "mixed" aggregate review score on Steam. However, recent reviews have been predominantly "Mostly Negative," with numerous users highlighting issues related to matchmaking and game stability.
Earlier this year, Tencent boosted its stake in Remedy Entertainment to 14 percent. More details on this move can be found here.
