Newzoo Charts reports that Fortnite remains at the top of both engagement and revenue rankings for May
Fortnite retained its top position in Newzoo's rankings for May, leading both revenue and user engagement charts, just as it did in April.
The research firm’s monthly reports cover gaming activity and earnings across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch in six regions: the USA, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.
The charts displayed consistent trends with the top five positions unchanged from the previous month: Fortnite, followed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, 3, and Warzone 2.0, Minecraft, Roblox, and Grand Theft Auto 5.
Newzoo highlighted the impressive rise of Ubisoft's XDefiant, which ascended from 33rd to 6th in monthly active users after its launch on May 21 following a closed beta.
The revenue chart welcomed two new entries: the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima landed in fifth, and Nintendo's Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake claimed the sixth spot. These titles both achieved the top ranks on their respective platform-specific charts.
Additionally, the release of Ghost of Tsushima on PC spurred sales on PlayStation. Elden Ring also saw notable growth, jumping 17 places in the revenue ranking, likely due to the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC set for release on June 21.
