Sensor Tower: In the first quarter of 2024, gamers spent $20.3 billion on mobile games. The most spent was on MONOPOLY GO!

The analytics company Sensor Tower has published a report on the mobile app market for the first quarter of 2024. Below is a brief overview of the situation with games.


  • For the first time in two years, the quarterly revenue of the mobile games market exceeded $20 billion. It reached $20.3 billion, which is 2.9% more than a year ago.
  • At the same time, mobile game downloads continued to decline, falling by 6.8% to 12.8 billion.
  • RPGs remain the highest-grossing genre, with quarterly earnings of $4.5 billion (-13%). The top five genres also include strategies ($4 billion, +7%), casino ($3 billion, +34%), puzzles ($2.9 billion, +17%), and simulators ($1.25 billion, -1%).
  • MONOPOLY GO! is the top-grossing game. From January to March 2024, it earned over $770 million. Sensor Tower analysts note that this is the first time they've seen such high quarterly earnings. Previously, the record was held by Honor of Kings, which earned $765 million in Q2 2021.
  • Only seven games managed to earn over half a billion dollars in the quarter. Among them are the already mentioned MONOPOLY GO!, as well as Honor of Kings and Royal Match.
  • The most downloaded game of the quarter was Garena Free Fire. The exact number of downloads is not specified.
