Supercell opens new studio to make ‘ambitious’ games for other platforms beyond mobile

Clash of Clans developer Supercell has announced the launch of a new studio in North America. This move signals the company’s expansion beyond mobile as it plans to make titles for other platforms as well.

The new studio will be led by Ryan Wener, who has been working as marketing lead at Supercell for the last several years.

“We are establishing this new team to pursue a specific goal: assemble and enable the best talent in North America to create what’s next across any platform, not just mobile,” he wrote in a blog post. “We want to build ambitious games players may not expect from Supercell.”

It is unclear what these future projects might be, but the company clearly stated that it wants to develop titles for different platforms like PC and consoles.

Earlier this year, Supercell launched co-op builder Everdale, which became its first new IP since the launch of Brawl Stars in 2017. In November, the company also invested €13 million in HypHype, a platform for “remixing” mobile games.
