"Izvestia": In Russia, the volume of the "gray" video game market is twice as large as the legal market

Russian gamers prefer to buy video games from intermediaries rather than official retailers, writes the newspaper "Izvestia."

XYZ School told the newspaper that since the beginning of the year, Russians have spent 4.5 billion rubles on purchasing keys and gaming accounts in the "gray" market. At the same time, according to "M.Video-Eldorado," they spent 2.5 billion rubles in retail stores.

Telecom Daily reported similar figures, estimating the "gray" market at 4 billion rubles, and the legal market at 2 billion rubles. Whether Telecom Daily included sales in services like VK Play or only counted retail sales is not specified.
