In the first half of 2023, the total volume of gaming transactions sank by more than 10 times
InvestGame analysts have published a report on transactions in the gaming industry for the first half of 2023. The figures were significantly less than last year.
In January-June 2023, companies related to the gaming industry concluded 330 transactions totaling $4.1 billion. For comparison, 463 transactions worth $39.7 billion were carried out in the first half of 2022.
▪️149 deals were concluded directly by game developers and publishers. The rest of the deals fell on esports organizations and companies engaged in gaming platforms and technologies.
Mergers and acquisitions experienced the biggest drop. The number of closed transactions decreased from 132 to 71, and their total volume fell 31 times to $0.9 billion.
The number of private investments decreased from 316 to 239 operations. Their total volume is $1.5 billion (-81%).
There were 5 more public offerings than in the first half of 2022 – 20 operations. Nevertheless, their total volume also decreased, amounting to $1.7 billion (-49%).
