Gamma Data: revenue of the Chinese gaming market falls for the third month in a row
In China, not everything is in order in the gaming market. Gamma Data analysts estimated that in May 2022, he was able to earn only $3.4 billion – 6.74% less than last year. At the same time, in April and March, market revenue also fell (by 3.4% and 9.05%).
Analysts attributed the fall to three main reasons:
The lack of new games due to the eight-month “freeze” of the issuance of licenses. The authorities began to allow the game to be released in China only in mid-April. At the moment, they have approved 105 projects;
▪️reduced revenue of top mobile games;
The recent wave of lockdowns in Beijing, Shanghai and other major Chinese cities.
