Niko Partners: in China, 80% of sales of consoles and games for them fall on the "gray" market
The Chinese console market remains niche. Niko Partners has estimated that by 2026 it will earn $2.53 billion, taking into account both legal and “gray” sales. This is only 4% of the total revenue of the Chinese gaming market.
Analysts also said that:
In 2022, the revenue of the Chinese console market should reach $2.39 billion — 16.7% more than a year earlier. A little more than half of the amount ($ 1.28 billion) will bring sales of games;
In 2026, game sales will account for 72.8% of revenue — $1.84 billion;
The Nintendo Switch is now the best—selling console in China, but the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are also popular;
