Europe's largest mobile markets: facts and figures

The analytical company comScore presented a lot of interesting figures and facts concerning the five largest mobile markets in Europe (Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Italy).

They were shared in his speech at the Mobile Games Forum 2013 conference in London by the representative of the European division of the company Hesham Al-Jehani (Hesham Al-Jehani)

According to him, in July 2012, for the first time, the share of smartphones in this region exceeded 50%, and by October this figure had grown to 55% (or 132 million devices).  Among the platforms, Android leads with 47% (and active growth does not stop), iOS has stabilized at 21%, Symbian has fallen to 17%, RIM’s share has also decreased (8%), Windows Phone has 5% (slow, but still growth).

Al-Jehani also noted the rapid development of the tablet market. By October 2012, there were about 27 million “tablets” in EU5, of which 60% belong to the iPad family.

According to comScore calculations, about 72 million users in these five countries play at least once a month, and 18 million play daily (which is 34% higher than last year’s figure). At the same time, the analyst noted an unexpectedly low number of installed games. 34% of gamers have 6+ games installed on their devices, 27% have one or two games. The number of users paying for games amounted to 5.5 million (an increase of 14% compared to last year). The top three genres are casinos, strategies and cards. Owners of iOS devices like to play on their gadgets more (53% of their total number turn to games), among fans of “green robots” there are 40% of them.
