Newzoo: due to coronavirus, the esports market will earn less than expected in 2020
The coronavirus forced Newzoo to adjust the forecast for the esports market for 2020: this year, many esports events were postponed.
According to the new estimate, the market in 2020 will earn $1.059 billion instead of the previously projected $1.1 billion.
The potential revenue of almost all esports revenue channels has decreased. But the forecast for earnings from digital products remained at the same level, and the income from streaming may even be higher than previously predicted.
Analysts also slightly raised the forecast for 2023. The segment’s revenue for this year, according to an early forecast, was expected to reach $1.556 billion. Now analysts believe that it will reach $1.598 billion.
