Study: Bad Game Design Infuriates Gamers More than Bugs
Canadian scientists from Queens University have found out what spoils the impression of video games. It turned out that bad game design annoys players the most when the gameplay is not exciting and makes them bored.
The researchers came to this conclusion after analyzing player reviews for more than 6 thousand games on Steam.
The study showed that complaints about failures and errors were present in only 8% of all reviews, while complaints about game design were found in 34% of reviews.
The report reports that bug complaints are found in 17% of negative reviews, and game design flaws are mentioned in 57% of critical reviews.
