The global video game market grew by 9 in May%
Last May, the digital video game market grew by 9% compared to the same period last year. It amounted to $7.8 billion,” SuperData said in its monthly report.
The mobile games segment increased by 16% compared to May last year. At the same time, the revenues of social games decreased by 4%, the revenues of console titles fell by 7%, and the market for paid PC games immediately lost 30% compared to last year.
The latter is explained by analysts by the fact that in the spring of this year there were no games comparable in sales to last year’s May blockbusters – Overwatch and Uncharted 4.
The leader among mobile titles in May this year was Clash Royale.
In general, the revenue of freeplay games increased by 17%, and premium titles – by 12%.
