Study: Android has become the main platform for 47% of developers
VisionMobile has published a study of the gaming industry for the 3rd quarter of 2016. Android is breaking popularity records.
For the study, the company interviewed 16.5 thousand developers from 145 countries.
It turned out that Android as an OS for application development is gaining popularity. The platform attracts the attention of 79% of developers. VisionMobile has been monitoring the industry since 2010, and this is the highest result in 6 years. Before that, there was a more or less stable equilibrium between iOS and Android. The share of developers paying attention to iOS since 2013 ranged from 51% to 55%. The same figure on Android was 70-73%.
47% of respondents called Android the main development platform, which is 7% more than six months ago.
Developer preferences for the main platforms in different countries
“The success of Android does not mean that iOS is doomed,” VisionMobile experts say.
61% of developers pay attention to the OS, and 31% consider it the main platform. This is 8% less than six months ago.
The share of respondents paying attention to mobile development on Windows 10 was 27%. Only 4% consider this OS to be the main development platform.
