Newzoo has counted 49 million mobile spenders in the world
Only 2.8% of all mobile players spend significant amounts on mobile games,” Newzoo shares the results of the study.
The highest percentage of such players in the USA is 4.8%. Mobile spenders in the States Newzoo calls those who spend $ 25 or more per month. It’s funny, but the company itself notes that it changed this amount from country to country in its research.
Anyway, here’s what Newzoo found out about mobile spenders:
1. Mobile spenders are constantly consuming content. If they don’t play games, they watch videos about them on Facebook, YouTube or Twitch. Of course, a decent number of ordinary mobile gamers also watch streams, but most of the viewers are spenders.
2. Surprisingly, mobile spenders are not only more active in the consumption of game content, but also generally more active. 43% of them play football, 32% run, and another 29% ride a bike. For comparison, of those who do not pay in mobile games, only 16% chase the ball, 5% run and 12% pedal.
3. Spenders love prepaid cards. According to surveys, 90% of them have ever used them. A third of spenders (38%) buy such cards at least once a week. For 30% of such gamers, cards account for about half of the spending on games.
4. 67% of spenders are men from 21 to 35 years old. The majority of paying players – 71% – also spend decently on console games. 69% can invest well in PC gaming.
For comparison, only 11% of average mobile gamers spend a lot on console games. The number of those who are willing to spend on PC games among them is even less – 8%.
In favor of the presented data, according to Newzoo, is the fact that in the summer a mobile game in the Fallout universe, previously popular exclusively on the console and PC markets, managed to break into the box office tops of the App Store in many countries. That is, the intersection of paying players from large platforms with paying players on mobile platforms is really very large.
