The company analyzed the behavior of 2 million players in the United States between December 2014 and May 2015. It turned out that the top games at the box office looks like this:

  • Clash of Clans (9.5% of the total revenue of mobile games played by respondents);
  • Game of War – Fire Age (8,3%);
  • Candy Crush Saga (5,8%);
  • Candy Crush Soda Saga (3,8%);
  • Boom Beach (2,7%);
  • Fallout Shelter (1,8%);
  • Big Fish Casino (1,7%);
  • DoubleDown Casino (1,6%);
  • Gummy Drop! (1,4%);
  • SimCity Buildit (1,3%).

At the same time, players spend an average of 1.6 games. The total expenses amount to $33.55 per person.

If you look at the statistics not on games, but on publishers, then it’s like this: Supercell is ahead, which owns 13.4% of total revenue, followed by King (11.9%), Machine Zone (8.3%), Electronic Arts (3.95%) and Big Fish (3.6%).

In other words, the main cash flows are distributed among several leading companies. NPD Group analyst Liam Callahan notes that the mobile market is starting to resemble the console games market. “Every year, several key console franchises are responsible for a larger percentage of revenue. At the same time, it is shocking that mobile has already followed the same path,” he comments.

Callaham is confident that the trend will continue. That is, mobile developers will stop relying on blind luck and will consistently build a brand, improve the quality of projects and focus on feedback from users.
