Newzoo: in 2015, Japanese games will earn $12.3 billion
The volume of the Japanese gaming market will reach $12.3 billion by the end of this year, according to analysts from Newzoo. This means an increase of 2.1% compared to 2014, when the local market earned $ 12.05 billion.
Mobile games will account for half of this amount.
Based on their own forecast, Newzoo experts claim that Japan will take third place among the world’s gaming markets.
The population of the country is 126.8 million . One way or another, every second person plays games: 66.5 million gamers in Japan. Of these, more than half are paying – 39.2 million. On average, a Japanese player spends $312.97 per year on games. This is the highest rate in the world.
Let’s add that the assessment of other sources gives a more modest picture. The Japanese publication Famitsu believes that in 2014, local games earned $ 9.6 billion.
