The volume of the Russian MMO games market is more than 28 billion rubles
In 2014, the online multiplayer games market in Russia reached the level of 28 billion rubles. This is 24% more than in 2013, the company claims Mail.Ru Group in the official press release.
Since 2012, the segment of MMO games has more than doubled – and continues to grow. Last year, the pace decreased due to the fact that the interest of the audience shifted towards mobile, according to Oleg Shpilchevsky, head of the gaming direction Mail.Ru Group. In addition, 2014 was not rich in high-profile game premieres. In 2015, the situation may change: the launch of Skyforge has already taken place, Armored Warfare and World of Speed are preparing for the release.
50% of the total number of players in Russia call themselves fans of MMO games, experts say Mail.Ru Group with reference to the research of the analytical agency Newzoo. In the USA and South Korea, fans of the genre – 45%, in China – 65%. In all these countries, men aged 21 to 35 play MMO most often. At the same time, 67% of players from South Korea, 74% from America, 77% from Russia and 87% from China are employed on a permanent basis.
