Google: 90% of developers use AI but don't inform players about it

Almost all major studios are already using artificial intelligence-based technologies in game development, asserts Jack Buser, Head of Gaming at Google Cloud. He stated this in an interview with MobileGamer.

Pragmata

According to Buser, developers are delegating routine tasks to AI, which allows for significant savings in time and money. For example, there is a high demand for tools such as Google's Gemini and Nano Banana Pro, utilized by Capcom, King, Plarium, and many other well-known companies.

At the same time, Buser explains, developers often do not publicly announce their use of AI due to fear of negative audience reactions. This is why various surveys show much lower figures regarding AI integration in game development—not 90%, but 50% or 40%. Studios simply try not to draw unnecessary attention.

Buser is confident that players' attitudes towards AI will improve in the future, and studios will become more transparent. He reminded that there was a time when users were against online games and 3D graphics, but over the years, everything changed.

"When technological revolutions happen in the industry, gamers often react like this: 'Wait a minute, I know what games I like, and I'm concerned about changes—will I like future games? Because I definitely like the games of today.' And I completely understand that reaction," said the manager.
