Strauss Zelnick stated that generative AI plays no role in the development of what Rockstar Games is creating with GTA 6

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, disclosed to GamesIndustry.biz that while the company heavily utilizes artificial intelligence in its processes, it does not rely on AI for creativity. He emphasized that "generative AI plays no role in GTA 6 development" by Rockstar Games.
These remarks came before the company's Q3 financial results release, a period of concern marked by a noticeable dip in their stock value after Google introduced its Project Genie AI tool. In a previous statement to CNBC, Zelnick mentioned that "creativity cannot exist within any AI model due to its data-reliant nature."
In his conversation with GamesIndustry.biz, Zelnick remarked, "I've always been a proponent of AI." He explained that their production process has long relied on machine learning, positioning them as leaders in the sector. While AI implementations are enhancing efficiency across the company, he clarified, "Tools alone don't create outstanding entertainment. When it comes to GTA 6, the worlds crafted by Rockstar are meticulously handmade, showcasing streets, neighborhoods, and entire environments not generated through procedural means."
In October 2025, the company unveiled their most recent earnings report, highlighting a further postponement of GTA 6 to November 19th, 2026. Despite this, Zelnick remains optimistic about meeting this revised timeline. The company has exhibited robust financial performance and plans to enhance its outlook for the fiscal year concluding on March 31st.
