The director refutes claims of using AI in the teaser trailer for Marathon

Alberto Mielgo, an artist, director, and animator who has won an Oscar, has refuted accusations that the latest eight-minute cinematic teaser for Marathon was created using AI.
The teaser first appeared several months ago, but Mielgo recently addressed these accusations on Instagram, clarifying that the cinematic short was not generated by AI.
On Instagram, Mielgo stated, "I can't believe we've reached a point where I have to clarify this, but here it goes: this is not AI. HELLO," as highlighted by The Game Post and Eurogamer.
He explained that the entire film — inclusive of paintings, animations, both 2D and 3D work, compositing, and renders — was crafted by a team of 155 skilled individuals over an extended period.
Mielgo shared several stills from the film, expressing his fondness for the project.
Regarding AI technology, Mielgo admitted his lack of familiarity but asserted, "one thing is certain: AI will never take away my (your) urge or joy for making art and painting. That part will never be replaced."
His post concluded with a note indicating that the text was "kindly edited with ChatGPT XXX."
In response to inquiries about alleged plagiarism by Bungie, Mielgo initially suggested that the studio "accidentally" utilized the assets, although these remarks were subsequently removed.
Meanwhile, Bungie recently resolved a copyright dispute with a writer who claimed that elements of the Destiny 2 storyline had been appropriated from his work.
