Roblox unveils new AI tools for creators
Roblox Corporation has launched a range of new tools aimed at helping creators "develop engaging content, expand their audience, maximize their earnings, and establish successful ventures."
The announcement of these "new innovations" was made at the 11th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) on September 5, 2025. The company revealed several AI advancements intended to "give creators artistic freedom, enhanced capabilities, and smarter development assistance."
A highlight of these developments includes "advancing generative AI with 4D object creation," which introduces interaction as the fourth dimension, enabling dynamic interplay among objects, settings, and individuals to provide models with inbuilt functionality. This 4D Objects tool is set for limited release in Q4 2025.
Roblox is also enhancing its AI-powered real-time text chat translation tool launched in February 2024. Next year, they plan to introduce a real-time voice chat translation feature, allowing users speaking English, Spanish, French, and German to have voice conversations with translations available in the listener's native language.
Additionally, updates will introduce text-to-speech and speech-to-text APIs. The text-to-speech API, currently in limited release, converts text into audio using ten preset voices. The speech-to-text API supports triggering actions via spoken commands, adding a new dimension of immersion and accessibility. A limited release of this tool is expected "by the end of the year."
Besides these AI enhancements, assistant upgrades are also included. The assistant enables Roblox creators to use everyday language for coding and will be updated to function with the model context protocol (MCP) this month. "This enhancement is crucial," stated Roblox, "because the assistant not only functions as an MCP server but will also operate as a client, facilitating tasks with popular third-party services like Figma and Blockade Labs."
Roblox Corporation also introduced improvements in performance and graphics fidelity to support "new genres and unique gameplay types," featuring avatar enhancements, a new server authority mode, and better engine performance.
The company has rolled out Roblox Moments (beta), a new short-form video initiative aimed at aiding creators in growing and engaging their audiences. Additionally, an increase in the Developer Exchange Program (DevEx) rate will result in an 8.5% rise in creators' earnings when exchanging their Robux for cash.
Between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, Roblox creators earned over $1 billion through DevEx, with expectations to surpass this milestone in 2025, as noted by the company.
"Our objective is to allow developers the chance to turn their concepts into thriving businesses," commented Nick Tornow, Roblox's senior vice president of engineering. "Repeatedly, we witness creators who, when provided with robust tools and opportunities, develop innovations that inspire by pushing the boundaries of creative potential."
He added, "At Roblox, enhanced tools, particularly those with AI features, will expedite the journey from concept to shared reality."
