"You can't get a result from AI better than what you can achieve yourself," says Keshe Skirnevsky about working on a game solo

I talked with Kesha about how he manages to single-handedly develop and promote an experimental project for Steam with the help of AI today.

Kesha Skirnevsky entered game development from video production. At the age of 17, he launched his first business, "Trailer Studio," where he worked on video editing for over 10 years. He created videos for Yandex, Mail.ru, Aviasales, Mosfilm, and 1C, among others. In the early 2010s, he founded the company Zebrainy, with its central project being the mobile platform for children's educational games, "Skazbuka." In 2023, Skirnevsky sold Zebrainy to Yandex. He is also the author of a book on the workings of the human brain, "Simply About the Brain."

In the interview with him, we discussed:

  • what happened after the sale of Zebrainy to Yandex;
  • what project he is currently working on;
  • how Kesha managed to build a studio staffed entirely by AI workers;
  • why he chose Construct for game development instead of GameMaker or Unity;
  • which aspects of game creation should not involve AI;
  • how the announcement process for his new game was structured.
